Season 2 was great, as was Ziggy. He tried to be something he wasn't, thought that he'd finally gain the respect of the guys on the docks for something he'd done, not because of who his father is.....and he wasn't made to play that game, and he paid for it.

But, I could relate better to season 2 because of the characters, I live in a working class neighborhood, 99% of my friends are union workers and the show portrayed those characters perfectly.

Stringer Bell is British too......and both have a very thick accent.

Agreed, and the ending, when it all comes together and you get the realization that those working-class union guys aren't any different from the drug crews -- and neither are really that different from the street cops -- was probably the most powerful message I've ever seen expressed -- not told, but shown -- on television.

This is the kind of spoiler I'm talking about.

  5. I can hear it in McNulty, especially in the first season.
Idris Elba (Stringer) is dead on, however.

    Another great episode last night.

Line of the night by Omar to Marlo: "Money ain't got no owners, only spenders"

I was amused to see that Prez is a Chuck Amato supporter.

So, who was Prop Joe trying to set up, Omar or Marlowe?

    I'm guessing Marlowe.

Marlo, because he refused to enter the co-op.

One of the things that struck me is how much more cold-blooded Marlo is than Avon was. Killing a Rite Aid security store guy because he caught him stealing lolipops? Damn. Avon never did that kind of stuff. I would agree that Prop Joe was trying to mess with Marlo, not Omar, especially after Marlo said "nobody fucks with me now." Prop Joe then went out and found the one guy in Baltimore who will fuck with anyone. Great exchange between two stong-cold killers.

Omar: "You must be confusing me with someone who repeats himself."

    Marlo: "This ain't over."

Omar: "Oh is that how you want to carry it, shorty? Cause I can get to your people a lot easier than they can find me."

    Marlo: "Wear it in health."

    Omar: "Oh Indeed. (wink)."

The scene where Bunk and Freeman are in the bar was hilarious. "You know what the plural of pussy is, Lester? Pussi. Jimmy taught me that. All those damn latin classes."

What was great about that scene was that Lester and Bunk were talking to each other, but they were having two completely different conversations. Bunk was conjugating the word "pussy" (with conjugal thoughts on his mind) while Lester was slowly piecing together the idea that Marlo has been hiding the bodies he's been dropping. Fantastic stuff. Especially when Bunk suddenly leans back and yells, "JIMMY!!!!" And most of us have been in barroom conversations like that before.

Another great scene from last night was when one of Marlo's dealers tried to compare Omar to a terrorist ("it can't be prevented"), and saying Marlo should give him a break the way the government helps out Wall Street and the airlines. Marlo looked rather impressed with this analogy for a while, but then made it clear he wasn't buying it.

"Omar ain't no terrorist. He's just a n----- with a gun. And you ain't no Delta Airlines, either. You're just a n----- that got your shit took. So bring me what you owe, and go talk that global economy mess somewhere else."

That ruthlessness is what got Marlo where he is today....and it will also be his downfall. He clearly feels he's untouchable by the way he insults Prop Joe, and every other dealer in Baltimore by continuing to tell the Co-op to screw. But him having the security guard killed was not only unnecessary but stupid. He didn't need to send a message to people because he was disrespected or something, no one saw the security guard even speak to him....he had him killed because he could. I can't see Avon Barksdale doing that....he was ruthless too, but at least he had a little respect for the working man.....Marlo has none.

Marlo is a piece of shit...I hate that guy and I hope Omar takes him and his hitmen (hitpersons) out.
