These folks better have a good sense of humor; or, Whitlock burns many bridges

Jesus. He probably pissed off 10 to 15 people in that one column. Wow.

As usual for Whitlock, a total piece of shit. Waste of time reading that garbage.

I posted this somewhere else, too ...

I'm the worst writer there is. But this is dogshit.

What's the motive? What's the point? There are a million things to write about, and Jason decides to do something like this?

    It's utterly baffling.

    Word for word.

And if I were one of the people mentioned, I wouldn't be pissed that I was filleted (columnists get far worse from their readers everyday), I'd be offended that a fellow writer filleted me in such a poorly-written way.

I give him credit for writing in a column things most of us think, but never say in a place where we might be held accountable for it.

    1. Who will hold him accountable?
    2. As someone mentioned, this is his way of being "ironic." We're just all too dumb to get the joke.
    3. AOL, ESPN, Fox (don't think I'm missing any) ... what's Jason's next on-line point of call once he wears out his welcome.

I've always loved Whitlock for his honesty, but he needs to be careful. I agree with almost every word he wrote, but I also don't think it was the smartest thing to put in print.

Given the way people jump around in this business, it's never a good idea to intentionally burn bridges. Inevitably some are going to ignite on their own, but it's not smart to make a habit of doing it on a regular basis.

Well, "word for word" after my proclamation of being the worst writer. 8)

Who did he insult that will ever influence his career?

    OJ?
    Millen?
    Left Eye?
    Jemele Hill?

He took shots at low-hanging fruit

I used to thoroughly enjoy Whitlock, whether I agreed with him or not. But I wasn't interested enough to finish this column, and in my opinion, that's the worst part about it.

I'm sure he'll be back on his moral high ground next week, banging away at his keyboard about the "Black KKK" or some other nonsense meant to get attention. Comparing his Jena 6 or Weis/Willingham columns to this mailed-in trash just makes me sad.

Nearly 2 pages of comments about it on here already....I'd say JW accomplished his mission with that column...

And the people cited are probably flattered they were mentioned rather than pissed at the rips. Think Lupica doesn't know he's short? If he ain't chucklin at that, then he's short of more than just stature.

Humor piece, folks. Maybe not so artfully crafted, but if it elicited a smile or two, he succeeded. Not much else to see here. Time to move on.
