Agreed. I'm tired of hearing NFL contracts being called contracts when the arrangement between players and teams is essentially at-will employment, as is the case for most of us in the real world.

This might have been mentioned. Regional covers for Sports Illustrated. I hate the four or more covers that come out with every football preview, basketball preview, Final Four preview, NBA playoff package, etc., etc. Give us the one cover.

But what does he have against the 2006 NCAA basketball season?

The need to declare everything that just happened the best or greatest ever.

  5. On the contrary, I happen to love Cleveland teams sucking. Never get tired of it, actually. :)

The assumption that baseball was always better when the person doing the opining was a kid.

I hate the pink-colored shirts and hats. If you are going to wear the team logo, wear the freaking team colors. Geez.

The drooling and excitement over a slam dunk. Is it really so impressive when everyone in the NBA, Div.1 and 2 college can dunk a ball? And the "plays of the day" including 6-7 dunks, it's a tired.

Not totally true because of salary cap rules regarding signing bonuses. The bonus is prorated over the life of the contract for cap purposes, but whatever is left accelerates into the current cap year if the player is released or traded. If Washington, for example, tried to get rid of Albert Haynesworth right now, the entire $41 million signing bonus would count under this year's cap, which would put the Redskins way over. Therefore, Washington cannot get rid of Haynesworth for several years, until the prorated part of the bonus reaches a reasonable level. That doesn't affect the low-level players, but a big signing bonus creates a little bit of security.

Of course, all that assumes there is a cap in the future.

  11. Much in the same way, I hate it when there is a fumble on the field, and some players surround the pile and start motioning that their team has the ball. In reality, they can't see the bottom of the pile any more than you or I planted on our couch in front of the TV.

    Super Bowl halftime "spectaculars"
    Salary caps
God BlessAmerica at the 7th inning stretch
Loud, piped-in music/cheering at every arena/ballpark in the country
