Shots of players' families. How many times did we need to see Michael Phelps' mother?

Fans that refer to teams as "we."

    - Coaches of female college sports teams that want the same coverage as the men but bristle whenever game strategy is questioned and don't want any scrutiny.

    - "Bring our 'A' game".

Coaches who are "molders of men." Until one the players does something stupid off the field. Then the players are "young kids."

    Sirs, Madames,

If the Toronto Maple Leafs have one more pre-game ceremony I'm going to plotz. I'm sure next game going to have Nickelback drop the puck to honour them for their last album going gold or a Zamboni driver celebrating his 50th birthday. It would be nice if the Leafs had a post-game ceremony.

Gus Johnson. (His name dishonours my favorite Bullet.) Kenny Mayne. A funny guy who has never, once, made me laugh.
Escrow in the NHL. Tout radio shows. Fishing shows. Phil Hellmuth. The mavens sorting out the field of 65 being made out to be a little more scientific than Oppenheimer at Los Alamos.

I figured that was a little too obvious.

And one that hasn't been said yet: NBA and college basketball games in which the last two minutes of the game drags out for 20 minutes or more. There are way too many timeouts at the end of the game. Cut the timeouts down, or allow teams to have a one-second timeout where they can just stop the clock, instead of having five timeouts in the final minute.

I have two rules for the National Anthem -- do it in tune and do it quickly.
