    I spent a couple years covering high school softball, and I loved the chants and songs.
    Some of those girls used to crack me up.

    Never liked it. Always seemed like a waste of energy to me.

    I covered high school softball in South Jersey in the mid-90s, and Delsea Regional was the best dugout chanting team.
    And they were a good team, too.

    HS softball was one of my favorite sports to cover. You get two good softball teams, that's a quick outing.

    I've actually been scolded in these parts for agreeing with this. In HS or LL it seems like it's just for fun. But the fact they are still doing this when they are representing major universities in the WCWS is absurd to me. Pretty juvenile.

    I used to love covering high school playoff softball games (sans chanting) that usually ended up 1-0 or 2-1. Nice and easy to write.

    Good HS softball is a great outing.
    Bad HS softball, not so much.

    The worst = bad HS basketball
