Things that irk you......

Oh dear heavenly god. My dad won’t wear his hearing aids. I’m talking to him and say something about a dentist.
“I don’t know any Dennis.”
“Not Dennis, DenTist.”
“Dennis who?”
“Dentist. DENTist.”
“Dennis?”
“NOT DENNIS. DenTistUH! WORKS ON YOUR TEETH.”

 

Podcasts that don't respect the listeners. A) Have a plan for what you want to talk about and apportion space accordingly. B) We really don't care about your life away from the mike. Catch up with your buddies on your own time, I'm listening to get informed comment about politics, pop culture or sports not the time you had a bad reaction to a burrito. C) Is it that hard to have a sound guy edit the thing where your cackling and screeching doesn't break glass? D) Informed content, bring something to the table besides the crumbs on your shirt and lame inside jokes with your buddies that only digress from why we are listening.

 

This sounds specific to one or more pods. Shame them by name

 

Oh my God, my dad won't wear his either. I think the thing is, deep down... I think he enjoys the silence too much.

It's pretty much any Barstool or Ringer podcast. Jon Lovett on Pod Save America must have once been told he was funny - but he isn't - and it seems people are afraid to tell him the truth. Other rants on the subject - I hate that every correspondent on The Daily mimics Barbaro's pauses and other verbal tics (particularly the implied empathy). I'm a big fan of NPR and Pushkin (Malcolm Gladwell-related) pod-casts and as much as I enjoy the the content of How Stuff Works, the two hosts voices make the show unlistenable.

 

Yeah, I listened to KFC's show on Barstool's Sirius channel a few weeks ago while driving back from Maryland for the weekend, and they spent an hour bitching about guys in the office who had left their chinese food out after watching the Yankees game.

 

Young people wearing caps/hats down over their ears. WTF?
(I'm not talking about a toboggan/watch cap/knitted hat/toque.)

 

Or for that matter, someone wearing a toboggan/watch cap/knitted hat/toque in the summer time.

 

Someone not calling a toboggan a sled or a watch cap/knitted hate/toque a beanie
