Went on a job interview recently in an attempt to exit the newspaper business and every employee in the company was young enough to be my son or daughter (and if I were just five years older, a couple of them would have been young enough to be my grandkids).

    That's scarier than the movie.

Update: I was discharged yesterday, with all major heart tests coming out negative (no heartattack, echo ok - an enlarged aortic root that I already knew about 1.5 years ago but thankfully hasn't grown in size, and all EKGs normal).

Blood pressure crept back up in the afternoon, but as long as it doesn't get over 200, they're not worried. I'm expecting this to go down as the research drug gets out of my system.

BUT, here's another thing that is going on, and gives me a whole another level of respect for women:

I've been having hot flashes. Big ones. My head gets really hot, my hair gets soaked from sweat, and I can't even stand to have a baseball cap on. Plus they take a lot of energy out of me and make me want to lie down and sleep for several hours.

Really, experiencing this was eye-opening. I was also taking my socks off and pulling off my hospital gown (and shirt when I got home).

    Women, I feel your pain.

    I'm never switching genders.

Is that Rosemary's baby or did Ron White and Phillip Seymour Hoffman have a child together?

Remembering when I would have been excited that Dickie V was calling my favorite team's game.

On a similar note, when I watched all sports with the sound on, rather than the 5% (which is basically only soccer) I watch with it on now.

Wheel of Fortune. On at my house every evening after the local news. For fuck's sake.

    I can top that.

Saw "Wheel" recently for the first time literally in decades, since my grandparents used to religiously watch it in the early 1990s.

My first thought was, "What happened to choosing from the rooms of prizes?"

Your first thought wasn't about how Vanna White looks younger now than she did in 1985?
