Can you believe the Beatles ripped off Brian Wilson 50 years ago?

 

No, but I did have sex in the back seat of my friend's car on a gravel road. I'm sure it was awful romantic for my "Linda."

 

Summer 1967, riding with my family on a 3-week camping trip to and from Expo '67 in Montreal, car radio sounding, transistor radios on all the time.

"Summer Rain" came out in late 1967, so all the teenage (or pre teen like me) AM radio listeners could feel wistful and nostalgic over the days of our youth, 6 months earlier.

But now decades down the road, I associate that song with 1967. One of a dozen or so.

 

"Keeping up with the Kardashians" is about to hit it's tenth anniversary.

Yeesh.

 

I walked into Starbucks this morning and Ralph Sampson was sitting there. I'm sure he and I were the only ones older than 30 in the place, and I'm almost as certain I was the only one who had any idea who he was.

 

I'm covering a football team's midnight madness to kickoff the official return to practice. It's 8:45 p.m. and all I'm thinking about it how it's getting on my bed time.

Today I was eating lunch in a restaurant and felt a draft and moved so I could be further away from the air conditioning vent.

That right there should qualify me for Social Security.

 

Ryan Seacrest has a lot to answer for in shaping the moral compass of our country and world. If only that other asshole didnt quit as American Idol co-host after one year. He might have a career now and we wouldn't be quite so vapid as a society as we are now. Or not.

 

Didn't realize football teams did a midnight madness, that makes me feel old, guessing it's been going on for a few years.
