There’s a difference between the goat and the GOAT.

Don't worry guys, GOAT has only been a thing for like 40, 45 years. :)

Maurice Greene was the first one I remember using it. But like the other old folks, I still have a hard time with that one.

I was watching some old football games on videocassette(!) over the holidays and noticed the pistol firing to signal the end of each quarter.
I did some research into the topic for my own knowledge and the practice ended sometime in the mid-1980s.
It is one of those quaint things.

I was assigned to cover a high school basketball game in about 1973. It never dawned on me until I got there that one of the players on the team I was covering was the little brother of my best friend. I knew this kid since he was 7. He he proceeds to screw up the game, a sure victory. Then it goes OT and we wins it. I wrote something like he cost his team a victory in regulation, then won it 3 minutes later. The desk wrote the headline: (He) Won't Be The Goat.
That kid is now 63 and he still has it in his scrapbook.

One of our track coaches got arrested for brandishing a gun on campus. It was a starter's pistol.

    No toys in cereal boxes.
I was waiting for one to tumble out last week and nothing.
I suppose this qualifies as #FirstWorldProblem, as well.

And crappy prizes in Cracker Jacks. No more magnifiers or whistles, just mostly wet and stick tattoos.

I grew up in Atlanta watching the Braves, but Chipper Jones' career started three years after I graduated high school. I don't think I'm *that* old but adding up those numbers makes me feel a lot older.
