Bowl games being named after anything other than corporate sponsors. And when there were so few that a team making a bowl was a major thing.

Stadiums named after anything but sponsors.

Seeing low-major and mid-major NCAA tournament teams and not having a clue who they were. Now there's so much info out there.

This Week In Baseball and The Baseball Bunch.

Not needing an additional broadcast commentator to weigh in on the rules, officiating and replay.

    Also:

Monday Night Football actually meaning something.

Having to read the newspaper agate to find out who was drafted in the NFL

    The USFL.

Computer punch cards for MLB All-Star voting.

    Barefoot kickers and punters.

The Slam Dunk contest being meaningful.

Every moment in a game having a sponsor.

Fans keeping a home run ball no matter which team hit it.

Memorial Stadium (Baltimore), Connie Mack Stadium and Forbes Field. In that order.

Damn, I miss parking in the residential neighborhood and walking up Loch Raven Boulevard to Memorial Stadium.

This. So much. I've had times that I fantasized about smuggling in a sawed off shotgun and blasting the D.J.'s laptop at halftime. Old man rant be damned.

I believe it was the Duke-Kansas game, when an announcer said, "This overtime is made possible by (stupid sponsor)."

No, the rules of the game made the OT possible.

    15-round world title fights.

Only two NFL games (one with the Lions and one with the Cowboys) on Thanksgiving.

Only the championship game of the Little League World Series being televised.
