    Dear Shawn-O-Meter,

We're sorry we didn't cover your shitty conference tournament. As you may know, the MLS kicks off in a few weeks and that took the last eight-inch news hole.

You can read excellent coverage of your tournament here: http://www.nobodygivesashitabouttheswac.com

    Love,

The SWAC's own website doesn't have a story and box on the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!?!

Why does the SWAC hate HBCUs?

Maybe they keep holding the tournament in Dallas hoping to fool the white media into thinking it's the SWC championship. Go Jon Koncak!

This is turning into, oh, every conversation I've ever had with kidball parents wondering why we don't have Podunk's results in the Bigtown Classic. Well, if the website's not updated or someone doesn't invest some of those unlimited nighttime and weekend minutes, how the hell are we supposed to know?

There are major papers that can no longer afford to cover Big Four sports in their own backyard and we have people bitching about Dallas not covering an event that maybe you could count on one hand how many people in their circulation care about beyond the score and the schedule.

The DMN certainly isn't what it used to be, but I wasn't expecting the thread to go off at this tangent.

    ;D

As an aside, I don't think Shawn-O-Meter was even born yet when the Shawon-O-Meter existed.

I covered Kentucky State, an HBCU, for two years. Their biggest crowds -- outside of homecoming -- came when they played teams like Central State, Morehouse and Tuskeegee. Those games were awesome to cover because the atmosphere was electric.
