There's actually a measurable chance Central Michigan and Western Michigan will go 3-0 against Michigan and Michigan State this season.

    I don't think it will happen, but I don't think they'll go 0-3 either.

Hmmm I had my picks ready when I was in the nomination stage. Just let me know if you want them now . . .

Ray Rice, Brian Leonard and Kenny Britt would all like to have a word with you.

Mike Teel was awful in virtually every big game for Rutgers in the past three seasons. He's the Washington Nationals of quarterbacks, completely worthless early when the chips are down, just fine after the pressure is off late in the season when everything's ruined and no one gives a damn.

He went 3-0 in bowl games.

He guided the Knights to a 9-0 record and win against No. 3 Louisville in 2006. They were very close to playing for the national championship (laid the egg at Cincy after the Louisville win, triple-OT loss at West Virginia the following week. Imagine if they went 11-0 ... they'd have played Ohio State ... .

He was sacked only 14 times in 2006 and 2007 combined. Last year with the new OL, he was sacked 16 times. That made a lot of difference, not to mention, he didn't have Rice to take the pressure off. But once the Knights found their bearings, they ended the season beautifully, including Teel's 21 of 26 for 447 -- and 7 TDs -- against Louisville. And he rallied the Knights from a 17-6 deficit in the Papajohn's Deep-Dish With Pepperoni and Achovies Bowl against NC State.

So you're right that he didn't have the magnificent track record against every top-notch opponent. But Rutgers also sort of exploded out of nowhere three years ago. The fact we're talking Rutgers having a 3-bowl win streak is the cool thing. Growing up, they, like Temple, were laughable. Temple still is. Teel is a big reason why Rutgers is not.

Yeah. Not good for the Hokies. Good thing they seem to be stacked with young talent at RB. Key word: young.

Another point, the momentum from 2006, having Teel and Rice back, makes 2007 disappointing.

By my count, unless they simply messaged you rather than posting why they were late, you're still missing three ballots. If that's the case, here's the one I had ready to go a couple weeks ago, minus Virginia Tech's small drop due to the RB injury. If you want/need/use this, just let me know, and I'll gladly participate, on time, the rest of the season.

    . Florida
    2. Texas
    3. Oklahoma
    4. USC
    5. Alabama
    6. Ohio State
    7. Penn State
    8. Oklahoma State
    9. Mississippi
    10. California
    11. Virginia Tech
    12. LSU
    13. Georgia
    14. Oregon
    15. Georgia Tech
    16. TCU
