And I really hadn't paid that much attention to this thread when everyone was posting their Top 25s.

I was a little worried mine would look strange, considering I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to examine things a little deeper.

I'll go a little further and post a top 10, though this was done before Va Tech's top RB tore his ACL. Probably should flip-flop Texas and USC, but wanted to measure up to my 2007 standards of getting the poll to slappy in a timely manner.

    1. Florida
    2. USC
    3. Texas
    4. Oklahoma
    5. Virginia Tech
    6. Alabama
    7. LSU
    8. Oklahoma State
    9. Ohio State
    10. Penn State

Rutgers' three-game bowl "streak" vs. 7-5 Kansas State, 7-5 Ball State and 6-6 NC State (which couldn't even qualify for an ACC bowl spot) is a ringing endorsement, you're right.

Schiano is a heck of a coach and a great recruiter, and Rutgers has won in spite of Teel, not because of him. And even in the landmark win vs. Louisville, Teel was a "stellar" 8-for-21, only salvaged by a spectacular grab by Kenny Britt.

Of course, I had to go look at the QBs Louisville played in 2006 leading up to the Rutgers game:

Pat White, West Virginny: 125 yards running, 222 yards passing in a 44-34 loss

Patterson, Syracuse, 24 of 38 for 303 yards and a TD, pick in a 28-13 loss

Grutza, Cincinnati, 129 yards and 2 TDs passing, 75 yards running in a 23-17 loss

Clint Marks, Mid Tenn State, 17 of 33 for 167 yards and a late TD in a 44-17 loss

Dylan Meier and Josh Freeman combined of Kansas State to go 17 of 43 for 139 yards and 2 picks in a 24-6 loss (Hi, Wenders!).

Kyle Wright of Miami, 20 of 34 for 278 yards in a 31-7 loss.

DiMichele and Charlton of Temple combined to go 14 of 29 for 214 yards in a 62-0 loss.

Andre Woodson of Kentucky, 9 of 24 for 231 yards and 3 TDs in a 59-28 loss.

Most of them had better numbers against Louisville than Teel the sophomore, who finished with a win against the Cardinals.

That said, here's a highlight reel of the '06 season for Rutgers. Two things stand out:

    1) Robinson was one tough motherfuckin' nut running with the ball.

    2) Look at the first TD pass of Teel's they show in the Louisville game: Tight spiral into the middle of coverage. Perfectly thrown.

Are you guys really spending that much time and energy on Rutgers? Really?

Need something to talk about while waiting for the first poll.

But it's not totally unkosher. As I said on the last page, Rutgers has been one of CFB's cool stories the second half of this decade.

But if you'd like, we'll listen to your Virginia Tech observations until the first poll. ;D I mean, c'mon, a day without Hokie Talk is like day without (insert punchline here).

Here's the difference: about 438 words.

My VT drops are usually one-liners.

Seriously, though....I'm not sure I'd say Rutgers is one of the cool stories the second half of the decade. One of the irrelevent stories, maybe. :)

See there. Now, I'M talking about Rutgers. Ugh.

Well, I work in Jersey, so the State University needs someone to represent them here.

    So, how's that Tyrod Taylor?
