My church doesn't feel this way, I can tell you that. Every Easter, we're spending at least 10 minutes on the faithfulness of Mary Magdalene vs. the disciples who scatter to the winds when Jesus is crucified. Then, when we roll into ascension, we're discussing the co-ed setup in the Upper Room.

Alma, I really don't know. I watch these while I work mostly.

Isn't Magdalene the MacGuffin in the Dan Brown book?

FWIW, I do believe Christ had a family.

There are millions of people who truly believe in Christ and are horrendous people. The Falwell family. The huckabee family. No Brooks, Tommoy Tubercille, Roger Stone. Sean Hannity. These are famous Christians who profess undying belief in Christ and who are bad. Almost everyone convicted of murder and child abuse in America is a Christian and they would say the believe in Christ.

As long as people believe that saying magic words will get them eternal salvation, whether true or not, they act with impunity. It’s not the truth of the salvation, it’s their belief of their salvation that allows them to act immorally because they believe, truly believe, they will be saved by a last second repentance.

a Christian who rapes and murders Islamic child believes that if he asks for forgiveness and accepts Christ with his last breath he will be saved. It that Islamic child he murdered will never have salvation. That’s Christian theology. Catholics believe that no matter how wonderful a baptist is, they can never get into heaven, because they didn’t believe in the correct version of Christianity.

    Sorry, not sorry.

I truly and honestly believe that religion is as evil as slavery. Worse. Catholicism sanctioned chattel slavery in America. Christianity justified the Holocaust. Why should anyone respect it?

Can a non-Catholic go to Heaven, according to Catholic doctrine?

outside the Church, there is no salvation. One of the oldest teachings of the Catholic Church.

didn’t Jesus say something to the effect that only through him an you have everlasting peace with his Father?

    Oh, I don't.

The disputable matter with Jesus is whether he rose from the dead. If he didn't, he was a megalomaniacal, delusional nut. If he did, he's what the Bible says he is.

I don't trust the source material. That's the problem for a lot of people.

    They do call it faith.

I guess I'll ask the two priests I know, who have never not once brought this up in our many conversations. Since I am not a Catholic. Pope Francis does not strike me as a limiting man. Most priests are not limiting people. I suppose it depends on the strictness of the diocese, although, TBH, I really don't think it does.

Now, if you'd said there are Baptists who believe Catholics aren't going to heaven, you'd be quite right, even as I believe those Baptists are wrong.

If you want to have a rewarding conversation about religion, seek out a Jesuit.
