I can't find a Sacks-Hitchens video which is odd because YouTube usually has something for everything.

But I watch this video and Sacks speaks the same basic hooey as Boteach.

He speaks as if there's a god and loses all credibility.

I don’t really visit the baseball thread. Are there guys who pop on there every day or two saying they don’t believe in baseball and the people who do are wasting their time?

"Well, I believe in the soul... the cock...the pussy... the small of a woman's back... the hangin' curveball... high fiber... good scotch... that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent overrated crap... I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a Constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. Goodnight."

It’s fun (or not) to go back and read the first page of this thread and get an idea of how far (or not) this conversation has progressed.

    That's OK. God's patient.

Honestly I think people kinda know what they think, so it's more of an exercise in who can write more entertainingly and assertively about it. If we cut out the few insincere posters, we'd be great.

That describes most threads on message boards. You should know that. You have played the role of insincere poster often enough.

If they did, someone could respond with a picture of an actual baseball like the one below. Show us a picture of G-d, and the comparison would work.

Religion has a tremendous influence on our society, for believers and those who do not believe. That is why those who don't believe have very good reason to join this discussion.

This is the last time I will address your ridiculous issues. I come to this thread to have discussions, not to "listen" to you be a condescending asshole, or to read all your references/accusations of "lies."

You disrespect people all the time. Then you tell them what you "expect" them to do in bowing down to you, as if you're God. Oh, excuse me, G_d.

I don't care how you characterize me. You don't know me, and I don't know you. Given that, why should I believe you wouldn't ever delete something? Just because you say so? Not happening.

And, as I said, I don't know at this point if it was you or hey abbott who deleted what I referenced. So, it has pretty much been addressed/acknowledged as much as it's going to be without seeing it now, isn't it? So don't tell everyone what you should have known better than to "expect," again, you condescending jerk, and acting like you know about anybody else's integrity.

Alma and I don't "claim" anything, or at least not anything only. Nothing is ever that black-and-white, but every thing cannot be addressed in every post. We're saying what we think, without spelling out every single thing in every single post (and then making sure we quote all of all them, completely, for your benefit, of course, otherwise we might be "lying," etc.).

We're trying to have a discussion, and encourage, you know, somebody besides you, maybe, to join it.

I'm trying to engage in an honest discussion, which is more than you are doing. Now you are misrepresenting my post about expectations. All I expected was for you to acknowledge your error. My mistake. You lack the integrity to do so. Instead, you have chosen to double down with more lies. I never referred to any religion as a fairy tale. I never said religion had no value and should not be taught. I don't delete controversial posts. You keep repeating those lies anyway, trying to lump me in with 'yab rather than face your own dishonesty.

Also, you just mocked something I do as a part of my faith on this thread. Yes, writing G-d is part of being Jewish. Not every Jew follows that practice, but I do. You want people to respect your religion, but you just mocked me for the way I practice mine.

Alma has absolutely claimed that we need religion to be good. I thought you had argued the same, but if you want to back away from that now, that's fine.
