Why are there “nones,” though? What’s driving them away from the alleged moral teachings of organized religion? In a lot of those cases, it’s because they see the double standards in play daily and will no longer allow the wool to be pulled over their eyes.

I’ve seen too many sexual assault/sexual harassment/abuse of power/contempt for small people/criminal behavior masked by a claim of “Godliness” stories to ever think that religion is the only standard — or even a very good standard — of ethical teaching.

I read something interesting the other day (and don't think the link was here) that said by 2071, Muslim would be the predominant religion on the planet.
The reasoning was that 1. Younger people are withdrawing from the Christian church, maybe not the faith, but the church; and 2. Muslims tend to have many children, and the religion is forced on them.

I have no idea if that's accurate, but I found it interesting.

I feel like for Islam (or I suppose Christianity as well) to have a big step up at least one of China or India will have to abandon open hostility to the religion, which they view as a threat to their sovereignty.

The story even referenced how Islam is on a huge rise in India.

This is a good story and (funny is the wrong word but) funny to see how societies far from America live, breathe, and operate.

Thanks. I believe everyone has a moral code to live by. Humans are hard-wired to have that.
