Happy Lent to all who celebrate. Of course not sure we're supposed to say "Happy Lent" or whatever. Anyway - had a really tough week, a lot of little things started to pile up in my head and I was really down. Like, doubting myself kind of down. Anyway, I finally worked it out in my head what was really eating at me - a feeling of a loss of status at work after a temporary assignment that ended two months ago, when I figured the assignment would earn me some points and I'd be moving ahead. Figured my "word" for Lent would be patience.
Anyway - I get to Ash Wednesday services last night and had a time finding a spot. The church was packed, I sat down in a spot far from where I normally sit. Anyway, I soon realize the family behind me has two autistic kids, I know the dad a little bit. I have a nephew who has Aspergers, so its really nothing new to me, but just distracting. I smiled thinking about my "word" - Patience! I go out to my car, a lady is standing beside it and lets me know her daughter nicked the rear wheel well and bent some of the plastic. It wasn't a big deal - I wouldn't have noticed it, but I had to laugh - and said "I guess we're both getting Lent off on the right foot." Thanked her and told her not to worry about it.
it's funny because most people would describe me as pretty laid back, but when I'm committed to something it's 100 percent and I hate delays or anything that interferes with the timeline in my head or my personal sense of being.

Wow. I hope someone can step up and restore the program.

As passion projects go, this one is amazing.

The Mitzvah Tanks are still rolling! (crossthread: the last maybe Moshiach, Schneerson, was born in Ukraine.)

Having lost the Lubavitch Rebbe so long ago, who will be the next Tzadik Ha-Dor?

Lost a big gun over the weekend. Different style leader. Over half a million people at the funeral, and that's with many staying away for fear of crowd control. One more mitzva...

If I was catholic in the LaCrosse Diocese I think I'd renounce my faith (fortunately, I don't live in LaCrosse or have any faith). For some reason it has become a minor-league stop for the crypto-fascist wing of the church in recent years.
