Went to mass last week - it was a weekday deal, the mass celebrating Mary finding out who the baby daddy is. So a regular mass - not the usual quickie you get on most weekdays and there was a bigger than normal crowd. About two-thirds of the way through communion the priests says "Sorry, we ran out of Eucharists" so we all had to cycle through and head back to the pews. I'd never seen that before. I thought they always had a huge stash near the altar in case they ran short and even then, why not start breaking them in two if you're running low? And even then, wasn't there a story about something like this in the Bible?

Each of the last two days I've walked by this church in Beverly Hills, Our Lady of Lebanon.

They recently dedicated a statue to Saint Sharbel.

Happy Good Friday. Some fun facts:
Jesus wasn't depicted as carrying his own cross until around 1100. Usually it was Simon the Cyrenian carrying the cross (weight between 200 and 300 pounds, height between nine and 12 feet - though earliest depictions seem to show cross could be lifted up whole by one person) while Jesus was bound. Total distance of walk was about a third of a mile. In short, as we got further away from the actual event, it became more difficult.

Another 500 to 700 years? probably. Surprised churches don't do "fun runs" carrying crosses a third of a mile. Take the Jesus Challenge!!!

    Good morning. He is risen.

And a joyous Passover and Ramadan to cover all my bases.

(As I told I'm Just A Girl a few years back, it's better to believe now and be disappointed later if there is no God than not believing and finding out there is one.)
