Of course they help. Worshippers of all three major monotheistic religions petition their creator.

 

The issue, of course, is what do gun-loving Trumpists pray for? Do they pray that God will melt down all handguns -- leaving the high-powered stuff for hunting -- or that he will soften human hearts so that people turn in their guns because they no longer need them? Of course not.

You mean the way that the Catholic Church did not need outsiders to judge on sex abuse issues? There's an easy argument to be made that the only reason that things changed at all was the light and criticism that came from outside the church.
