Thoughts and Prayers: The Religion Thread

I’ve always wondered about the advances of science detracting from religion.

And I’m not talking about dinosaurs.

 

This will set off a bunch of the U.S. bishops who will rage about this foreigner liburral socilist globalist and his squishy SJW bleeding heart ideas. Who is he to say what the Catholic Church should do? Who does he think he is??

 

Those bishops and the Latin Rite-loving crowd that follows them conveniently forgets that their hero, Pope JP II, was fairly outspoken against the war in Iraq.

 

They don't really wanna talk much about the Iraq War anyway.

For a journalist, whose primary job above all should be truth, knowingly spreading falsehoods absolutely is a mortal sin.

 

True enough, although the political left sees Jesus as a sturdy Democrat, too.

 

Kurt Vonnegut used to tell an anecdote about Powers Hapgood, a socialist labor organizer in the 1930s. He was on trial for refusing to obey a strike injunction, and before sentencing the judge asked him, “Why would a man from such a distinguished family and with such a fine education choose to live as you do?”
“Why," Hapgood replied, "because of the Sermon on the Mount, sir.”

 

And most, regardless of D or R, sees religion as a source of money.

 

It shouldn't. If you claim to be a person of faith and find any kind of human advancement to be a counterpoint to your beliefs, maybe it's time for some intellectual and spiritual checking of thyself (before one wrecks thyself.)
