I'm not sure how you can argue it totally isn't news that he had some kind of affair. I'm not saying you stick a reporting crew outside his home or start tailing him to see where he goes, or start reporting weird rumors or innuendo, but if you write about golf regularly, how can you just ignore it? Even if your stance is to say that people ought to make their own value judgments, Tiger's affairs would go into that, no? You can still tell the truth without hammering the guy.

As a consumer of the media, I guess I find this story a lot more interesting than "Tiger wins another tournament," or the worshipful "Tiger returns from injury, cures cancer!" usual media treatment he gets.

    And:

    ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Okay, I don't think there's any call for that.

I don't know Crash, here or in real life, but he has his opinions and he is entitled to express them. He doesn't appear to be a troll or a chronic agitator like some posters on this board. He's expressed his opinions, on this thread and elsewhere, without crossing the line and being ignorant or abusive, as far as I can tell. He deserves the same consideration.

This has been a good thread - let's keep it that way.

Is this news? Oh, my yes. Is the media going overboard and insane? Of course. It always does.

I'm just optimistic enough, I'd like to think he bogeyed.

Who the bleep do you think arranged this photo shoot? Where was the "leave us alone!" attitude then?

It has EVERYTHING to do with the image he's worked hard to create.

Several things are in play here. For starters, don't think there aren't many closet golf loving racists who aren't happy about this. They got the goods on a top black athlete with the beautiful white wife.
The bottom line is that Tiger was a cheating husband. That's between him and his wife. The public got involved when he crashed his Escalade.
It's a tragic situation and two people who are going to be hurt are their kids. Someone in the future is going to show them this crap.

I was in transit yesterday and so was only catching bits & pieces of his statement.
The more you view it in totality, the more offensive it is.
How dare he lecture the world about his right to privacy? He chose to make hundreds of millions selling his perspective on the proper car to drive, watch to wear, liquid to drink and, most importantly, whatever Nike asked him to sell next. Nobody made him do that. It was his choice. He prospered greatly.
His overwhelming need for privacy apparently was there to mask his personal "failings."
He allowed his behavior to spill over into the public on Friday morning. You can't try to clean it up and then scream at us for noticing the spill.

    Two thoughts:
It appears the mistresses are now positioning for the distinction of being the No. 1 ho in Tiger's life and the reason for the Thanksgiving night blowup.
Also, I found it interesting on Tiger's voicemail that he didn't tell her not to call again, rather just disguise her identity

Yeah he fucked up but in the end, is that going to stop you buying a Buick, or wearing Nike shoes or change razors. The answer is no.
Any woman who kisses and tells is a piece of shit. It was and should remain a private matter.
