    An innocent victim?

  2. WHAT?
In 2003 the mag settled with Gary Conduit.
In 2007 J-Lo won a half-million settlement against the mag over a drug use claim.
Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson also won lawsuits the same year.
The mag has also issued a shit laod of aoplogies and out-of-court settlements to Britany Spears, Brooke Shields and one of the Olsen twins.

THanks for proving my point -- that the drug and cheating stories have to be closely vetted or they get whacked. Let's do some math:

    52 issues a year X 25 stories a week = 1,300 stories per year, 9,100 since 2003.

    Pretty good batting average, IMO.

  4. Um, ok ....
Batting average compared to what? A newspaper? People? US Weekly?
Sorry, but they have the lowest batting average of ay of national publication I have ever heard of..
Yeah they are right a lot, but they are also wrong a LOT.

I don't the "vetting" is all that close? Like the Elizabeth Smart "gay sex ring story" they got from from Salt Lake reporters.

Well, yeah, except you'd like to bat 1.000.

Some dude on Today, can't remember the name, said they were in "serious" negotiations to re-do the pre-nup. She gets like $5 million NOW if she agrees to stay, $55 million paid out over X years if she stays seven and the pre-nup is done after seven years of marriage sted 10. Like it was a business, not a marriage.
As it stands, I think he said, she gets $20 mil.

If I'm offered 100k to kiss and tell, I can handle you calling me a piece of shit.

Gotta feel good going through those negotiations. Yikes.

That just doesn't seem like a lot of coin for this situation and the media that comes with it.

If Tiger gets out for $20 million if she leaves he'll have gotten the deal of the century.

  10. I've worked in the newspaper biz for 12 years, with two newspaper chains, neither of which have been sued during my tenure.

Why is a guy who is good at playing golf -- who has made it clear all he wants to do is play golf, who has been criticized for not being enough of a role model and for not using his power and influence to make changes for the better in society -- having to apologize for something that has nothing to do with his job or breaking the law?
