Considering Austin Murphy's bundle of praise packaged in Sports Illustrated this week and ESPN's stumbling over itself to be the latest to fawn over Tebow, I think Florida and Tebow have some significant help in making him out to be the Second Coming.

Except this is part of his faith. Which he has put out there. Sorry.

And I think that in the end, Florida, et al, are going to find out less means more.

As soon as someone gets around to asking his feelings on Old Testament and New Testament teachings, and how the influence of the era weighed on Hebrew decision making, let me know.

Until then, sorry, it's not. It was sensationalism and an invasion of his privacy.

Oh, I agree that Florida and the national media have overhyped the guy. He's a good college quarterback who may or may not even make it in the pros.

But, still, one's personal life is one's personal life. If Tebow gets spotted at a campus frat house with six hookers and a donkey, does that make it front page news? Moreso than if it happened to be a teammate in the same situation?

South of the Ohio River, yes.

Are you ready to ask every Mormon athlete if he/she has ever tried coffee or soda? Every Catholic athlete if they have used birth control? Every Muslim athlete whether they want to commit jihad against the West?

Part of their faith, ya know.

Then you're blinded by your own faith.

Yes, BT, if their entire point is that they live their life that way, I would specifically ask about the base tenets. Kind of the way it goes.

    I agree.

Also, I would have no problem with the question if it came from a Christian sports magazine or 700 Club personality. Just don't like it in this case because it's obvious that Clay was being less-than serious with the question.

In response to Jay Farrar from page 2: I know Clay's background. He is more than an online journalist, but in this situation he lacked class and showed no respect for his peers and their time.

This has been one of the more interesting threads in recent weeks on here because the discourse and give and take has been pretty good and lots of good thoughts on both sides of the issue.

So maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that Travis asked it and Tebow answered it.

I don't blame the guy for asking in a group setting. I learned long ago that sometimes depending on who you are or the size of the company you work for, getting the chance for one on one after a scheduled group session is rough. I remember having a personal question for Jeff Gordon. Didn't want to ask during a presser. As they were leaving I approached and was told by his PR guy any question you had should have been asked in the presser. He wouldn't give me the time of day the rest of the weekend, no matter how many e-mails or calls I put in requesting five minutes of time. If you have a question you want answered then ask away. That's my new rule.
