Tim Tebow and the "Are you a virgin" question

Agreed. In fact, I don't necessarily equate abstinence or "waiting until marriage" with being a good Christian. Some of the mission work, etc., is far more Christian-like than whatever he does or doesn't do on a Saturday night with his fellow 22-year-olds. I'm not sure that it's relevant (although, yes, I know it is to many Christians). Therefore, I wouldn't ask the question, either.

I realize many Christians don't think abstinance is mandated by God, much as many Christians think drunkeness is OK. People like to make exceptions for the rules they don't want to follow.

As far as I've ever seen, Tim Tebow and Florida do not force the issue of his character. It simply is reflected in how he lives and the media has taken it and blown it out of proportion.

Asking the question that was asked of Tebow was not appropriate in the setting. As far as I understand, it was an SEC media day setting. As such, questions were supposed to be about the upcoming SEC season. To me, the question was irrelevent to the topic of the interview session.

Setting up a personal interview to talk about Tim Tebow on aspects of his religion would make such a question OK.

In that setting, I could see asking that question, among many others -- drinking, etc. ...

One question I have, however, is how does the U of Florida feel about the Bible verses on the eye black? Seems to me that if Tebow gave the commencement address and started quoting scripture there would be a problem, yet arguably the most prominent public figure the school has regularly wears his religion on his face on gameday. It was on the cover of SI this week for all to see, too.

Personally, I don't care -- and I'm a separation of church and state supporter -- but I am curious how it's viewed by the school, certainly more than I am Tebow's virginity.

I don't think it'd be a problem in either case. The school isn't advocating a religion, it's allowing Tebow to express his. As long as they allow students of other religions the same courtesy, no harm, no foul.

I don't think virginity qualifies as a base tenet -- unless you really do think Tebow is Christ.

and why wouldn't you think he's Christ?

Oh, I definitely do. Not so sure about IJAG, though.

Colt McCoy finished ahead of Tebow in the Heisman last year and has been to Peru on missions. Is it part of every story on him?

But is Colt McCoy a virgin, and why don't we know that? Also, how does Colt's dad feel about abortion, the nation deserves to know.

I hope he eventually is asked how Missouri kicked his team's ass.

  12. Not reading the thread, but since Tim Tebow just announced he's a virgin, and Tim Tebow is the second coming of Christ, he just inspired millions of young, smoking babes in the south to try harder to fuck the living shit out of him. Any other average Joe who is 21-22 and tells some chick he's a virgin, she hits the road faster Diana Taurasi.

    Double standards, I tell you.
