    Let's start with bad pay. Over work. Others please feel free to chime in.

    Yeah, the pay is low. You could probably get a job pushing a broom at Southwire (the world's largest copper refinery, or it used to be, also located in Carrollton) and make close to what you'll make in this job. So there's high turnover. Which again, isn't atypical for a paper this size.

    It would be a $5,000/year raise for me...

    i'm unaware of any small newspaper job where you don't work your butt off for low pay.
    Not saying it's right, but it's a fact of life. I guess it comes down to whether you want to write or not.

    Well, I am currently stuck in the news dept. I love where I am, because it's home, but I want to be in sports badly. Even if I have to cover UWG--a school I hate.
