I always tip well on the first drink at the bar, especially, when doing mixed drinks because they tend to be stronger for the rest of the night that way.

Actually, it's been pretty civil here, because nobody has played the outrage card.

And I'm sure nobody will now. ;D

This doesn't make sense to me ... if you make the order from the waitress, doesn't she then have to get the bartender to make the drink? Isn't that taking up the same amount of time? Not trying to start a fight, just curious about the process.

I'm guessing that it is different because you don't have all the other patrons at the bar watching the bartender make the drink for YOU. If the bartender is making it for the waitress to deliver, they have no idea who it is that ordered it. I can see how ordering it while sitting at the bar is different, as they the other patrons are staring at you. And will continue to stare while you consume the beverage.

    Does anybody here drink regularly?

The Coffee people at Starbucks and the like work as hard or harder, per drink versus bartenders, and they get no such love.

I have a beer or two a week.

Around our business, that's drinking irregularly.

I'll PM you later, Jr. You seem like somebody I could learn from in this business.

Ask questions to the masses. More chances to get a good answer. :)

I figure the best way to win back over the posters and possibly get a job in the future is approach them one by one.
