At the NFL games I've covered this year, he's way low.

    creamora.

  3. How big are these press boxes? On average, there should only be about 10-15% black people if the area reflects national demographics.

I'm pretty sure there's two total that cover the sport I cover. Rarely are they there at the same time.

I cover three teams that have a national profile. Between print, TV and radio, I would say there are about 40 different reporters and columnists who cover those 3 beats.

    40.

    One is African American.

    Five are white women.

We have four TV stations in my market. I am the only woman doing sports. There are no minorities doing sports.

I don't know when some of you white men are going to wake up and realize you still take the vast majority of the jobs. You're still very much in demand.

The hard, cold numbers in the annual reports put out by the journalism orgs certainly don't seem to convince some of you.

  9. I'd say, generally, his statement is correct.
Specifically talking about major national events, he's wrong, but that's about 25 percent of the events covered.

In all seriousness (because this is going to sound like a joke),

Does it make me racist if my first thought was ...

Um, Bill, have you looked on the floor/court/field lately? Maybe all the white people are writing because they're not good enough to play.
