    McFarland, California, you're up.
Cops say it was a standard late night disturbance in which the suspects were resisting arrest and trying to flee, and one of them was a known gang member with an illegal gun.
Even if all of that is true — and from the video, there was some resistance early in the confrontation — I think it's pretty obvious that they went overboard in their application of parking lot justice. Baton Cop started playing home run derby with the dude.

He was about to swing on the guy recording. The police union thinks he was just doing his job. #ACAB

Excellent reporting by Mississippi Today details not just this case involving the Rankin County Goon Squad, but dozens of incidents going back a couple of decades.
Torturing suspects, coercing informants with torture, threatening them to leave town, if not the entire state ... the Goon Squad was big on torture. Lots and lots of unacceptable Tazer use. Waterboarding. Cigarettes. Blowtorches. Good old fashioned blunt force trauma from their fists. The works.
I guess if there's one silver lining, it's that they weren't necessarily racist cops. They seem to have targeted poor white trash meth heads more than Black people. They're just awful human beings.

Olbermann said this on his podcast, which means it comes with the requisite suspicion. But he said Rep. Clay Higgins (Trumpist-LA) was so brutal as a cop in Cajun Louisiana that he got whacked for his excessive violence.

" ... distracted while attempting to change his in-car radio," a St. Louis cop swerves to avoid a parked car that allegedly was not in his path (the official version has changed three times), then crashes into a popular gay bar. Police arrest the bar's co-owner and charge him with assault on an officer and resisting arrest.

The latest: police did not perform toxicology tests on the the driver, and even the Republican governor is calling for release of the bodycam footage.

Three Tacoma, Wash., cops acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges against a Black man who struggled with police and told them he couldn't breathe before they killed him.

Tacoma police officers acquitted of charges in Manuel Ellis’ death

This event happened on March 2, 2020 ... just as COVID deaths at a Seattle-area nursing home began dominating the regional and national news. Of course, the same type of death-by-oxygen deprivation happened three months later with George Floyd in Minnesota.
