    I wonder what the hell the backstory is on that one - details are light so far, even though its been a couple of days. The way it reads now makes it seem like the story of Botham Jean, except that this time the homeowner killed the officer breaking in. That's assuming that the officer and the homeowner didn't know each other - If they did, that detail probably makes it into an initial report somehow. It looks like a suburban home, so I wonder if there is doorbell camera footage available.

    Yep no discrimination or bias at all.

    From the Washington Post story. police did not mention McAlpin's disabilities in materials provided for his bail hearing (he wound up spending 24 days in jail); the white man who made the phone call that started the whole ordeal said McAlpin stole his cellphone. McAlpin was charged with theft. After an investigation the cellphone was discovered to be McAlpin's.
