    He doesn't want us to like him. He wants us to hate him. I'm sure it's therapeutic somehow, but it's always seemed like an odd turn.

    Telling old white men that some subjects don't need their pontification is asking them to hate you. It's the ultimate insult, the one idea they can't abide.

    If you can get a bunch of white guys to hate you because you are so "woke" (which is how you process it), then you have proven to yourself that you are a case apart from all the other middle-aged white guys.

    You don't get under people's skin because you're woke. Or because you tell them what they don't want to hear.

    You get under people's skin because you act like a flaming asshole. There is more than one facet in this world to being a good person. One is being woke, of course. Another is not being a prick.
