Simply a caricature-like performance of a small-town hotshot shooter. If he was a little more natural-looking ballhandler, he would have been fairly realistic.

But remember the time frame. This was one of the first movies to cast an unkind eye toward the college athlete's experience. A bit ground-breaking.

Right up there with Hoop Dreams is "HEART OF THE GAME (fixed)," a documentary about a girls team from Seattle. If you've ever covered a high school hoops team and been aware of the drama off the court, you will really appreciate this film. Fantastic piece of work. Some critics knocked it for its "uneven pacing," but the filmmaker allowed the story to unfold on its own. If you haven't seen it, you really owe it to yourself.

Not to be an ass but it's called "The heart of the game" and it is amazing.

    10. "BASEketball" (1998)
    9. "Air Bud" (1997)
    8. "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh" (1979)
    7. "Space Jam" (1996)
    6. "Love & Basketball" (2000)
    5. "Blue Chips" (1994)
    4. "Teen Wolf" (1985)
    3. "White Men Can't Jump" (1992)
    1B. "Hoop Dreams" (1994)
    1A. "Hoosiers" (1986)

I really like having a 1A and 1B and agree with those. "Hoop Dreams" was a terrific documentary, and "Hoosiers" is self-explanatory (sorry, Tomas).

But "BASEketball" was supposed to funny, only it wasn't. "Air Bud" was joke and "Space Jam" was a bigger sham.

    1A. "Hoosiers"
    1B. "Hoop Dreams"
    3. "White Men Can't Jump"
    4. "Love & Basketball"
    5. "Glory Road"
    6. "The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh"
    7. "Coach Carter"
    8. "Blue Chips"
    9. "He Got Game"
    10. "One On One" (Laugh all you want, Ragu, but hell will freeze over before "Space Jam" or "BASEketball" is on any list I compile.)
