If Arkansas beats LSU and Florida, to end up undefeated in the SEC, then they should play in the BCS Championship Game. You run the table in an elite conference, you deserve to play for the whole shebang...screw Rutgers and Boise State.

Nevermind that 50-14 home loss to USC, which could finish with three wins against top 10 teams.

I have a better idea. Why not just make the SEC title game the national championship?

I'm lovin' Arkansas, which sure looks like one of the three best teams in the country right now. Their loss was the first game of the season, and now they're rolling. I'd say a rematch with USC might look different if they played now. I'm with Tyler -- if the Hogs win out, they need to be playing for the national title.

If Southern Cal wins out, it would have significant wins over Arkansas (by 36 points), Nebraska, Oregon, Cal and Notre Dame.

If Arkansas wins out, it would have significant wins over Auburn, Tennessee, LSU and Florida.

I'd say their resumes would be about even and Southern Cal gets the tiebreaker because it destroyed the Hogs head to head.

No. And I say that with respect, da man. Arkansas had its chance against USC. If Arkansas had beaten USC and the circumstances played out the same way -- if both end up 11-1 -- I'd say Arkansas gets to play in the title game. But USC won the game, and if the Trojans win out, they get the shot.

"If" is such a dirty word.

It might be different, sure, with McFadden healthy and the offense knowing is on fire. But USC did win. And like Arkansas, USC is playing with a lot more confidence these days, since the second half of that loss at Oregon State. The Trojans aren't playing not to lose anymore.

Yeah, they might lose by fewer than 35 the next time.

I agree, too, but Hogs have to beat MSU, LSU and Florida before talk like that starts. Honestly, I don't think the Hogs stand a chance of making the title game. I think poll voters would put Michigan in the title game with Ohio State, regardless of the outcome of the first game (well, maybe not if Ohio State wins by 40), before the Hogs. Plus USC has to lose to Notre Dame.
I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see Arkansas and USC have a rematch in a bowl game. I'm not saying the Hogs would win, but ...

i don't know how you could pick arkansas (if it doesn't lose another game) over usc. god knows i'm an sec guy, but usc kicked their ass. even if it was early.

and i don't think florida is great, but to call them a paper tiger and then trumpet notre dame, well, that's just silly
