Like I said, it's important to me to look clean and streamlined. Makes me feel confident amd put-together.

The day I take fashion advice from askmen dot com, whatever that is, will be the first day.

It's important to me to wear what's comfortable. When I want the "clean and steamlined" look, it's usually for work or a job interview. Or something for which I wouldn't wear shorts.

    Time and place.

Again, there's a difference between going out in social situations and wearing something like cargo shorts for work. (And let's not start the whole you shouldn't wear shorts to work discussion. It's 95 degrees and I spend most of my day at a ballpark. I'm wearing friggin' shorts.) I find them practical. I can stuff my notebook and recorder in the pocket and have casual conversations at batting practice.

Ditto, for me, on "every guy (you) know who wears shorts in the summer."

    Exactly.

My clothing options are rather simple.

Work: Pants. (Although, I completely agree with your take on shorts in your line of work, Cosmo. I was the same way.)
Away from work in the summer: Cargo shorts.
Away from work in the winter: Jeans.

Right, but I wasn't trying to give you advice. I was just telling you what my experience has been. I couldn't give a fuck less what you wear. Wear what you want.

The way I look at it, you never know who you're going to run into when out and about. I'm not a naturally attractive guy. Not unattractive or anything. But kind of short. Pretty nondescript. My ensemble is my equalizer, I suppose. My wife is way hotter than me.

When did I give you "advise"?

I said why I don't wear cargo shorts. You challenged it. I told you why. And here we are.

All right, but what do you wear on your feet when you wear shorts?

You almost have to wear sandals, and I hate wearing sandals.

But, I think you look like an idiot wearing sneakers or something else with shorts on.

You said "Ditto, for me, on "every guy (you know)....."

Ditto refers to my saying I wouldn't take fashion advice from askmen dot com. Which means, you wouldn't take advice from every guy I know who...

    Ugh. Nevermind.

During the summer, I wear sandals 95 percent of the time. But I'll throw on my Nikes, too. I got no problem with that.

Always a tough call. Jack Purcell Converse sneakers seem to work well, for me. Or boat shoes.

YF, I also just bought some killer blue and gold Pumas at that store on State Street in the Loop. I'll see how they wear this weekend. Haven't tried to incorporate them yet.
