Top-five things chicks don't get about us

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by hondo, Jun 22, 2011.

  1. Because I agree with it in just about every other way, and the thought of leaving it makes no sense to me. I couldn't picture my life without my faith and don't want to. If that means that I have to live alone to be both happy and religious, then so be it. I can be quite happy spending my life alone. It's not like the Church says I have to get married.

The Catholic Church's stance is that sex is the means for procreation and that one cannot remove the potential for procreation when having sex.
However, I'm not familiar with any doctrine or dogma that requires a married couple to pursue procreation.

This was my thought, as well.

  4. Well, I'm certainly not going to not have sex AFTER marriage too. That would hardly be fair to a potential wife.

there are things you can do to prevent having children and let you still have sex.

  6. Not any that have a 100% guarantee and are acceptable to the Church.

nothing in life is 100% guaranteed.

  8. There are a few things. One of those is that if you never have sex, it is 100% guaranteed that you will never have children, unless you're the Virgin Mary. Seeing as how I'm not, seems like a simple decision to me.

    Wow. So many questions.

I mean, I'm (nominally) Catholic, and into my teens, I was never sure if I was a virgin because of my beliefs, or if it was because I had no game. Turns out, it was the latter.

What about a vasectomy? Is that against your (our) beliefs?

I gotta say, in my experience, not getting someone pregnant is pretty easy.

And, then, if your beliefs are so important to you, what is so undesirable about kids that you would give up the chance at marriage to avoid them at all costs?

I don't have kids either, but I like kids. Wish I had 'em.

I don't know man. As much as jokes about the Priesthood sometimes bother me, you're getting less sex than the average Priest.

And, plenty of Catholic Priests would marry you. You just need to find the right one.

  10. I've never bothered to find out if I have game or not, because I don't care. I did once break up with a girl because she wanted sex and I could never look at her the same way again. I think it's partially because of religion and partially because I've worked too hard to get where I am to lose everything in one night.

Yes, a vasectomy is considered a sin. I could get it, confess and be okay, but only if I actually was sorry for my sin. That's not a sin I'd regret, because I have no desire to have children. It's just not something I've ever really wanted that badly, and the only reason I've really thought about it is because society says you're supposed to want children.

But really, I don't see any benefit for me. From my point of view, children appear to be more trouble than they're worth, a part of life that I think my life will be better off without. I've never really liked kids all that much, and that's not something I see changing. So I don't see a reason to have them.

And honestly, I'm proud to be getting less sex than the average priest. I've said all my life that throughout my life, I will either have sex with one woman or zero. Zero appears to be the way I'm leaning.

You're living your life on your terms, and if that makes you happy, that's all that matters.

But the bolded part above really struck me when I first read it. The fact that you "could never look at her the same way again" because she wanted to sleep with you doesn't seem to jive with the idea that you not wanting sex is just related to religion or hard work.

But I am not religious. And I am much better at observing hard work than participating in it. :D

  12. Well, I had kind of made it clear to her that there would be no sex whatsoever before marriage.
