Yes, the fact Deadlands didn't make the list by Grand Terrace -- GRAND TERRACE! -- did tells you all you need to know about the list.
And the fact Beaumont is missing (Oak Valley notwithstanding).

Friend's mom can't wait to leave Redlands. Doesn't hurt that she has a paid-off house worth at least 500K, even in this softening market.

Based on the median home prices of most of these towns, I'd say the main criteria for livability is the absence of poor people.

I don't like this list becasue seems like a lot of the top picks are just anonymous suburbs of a bigger town.

Seems like a town should have its own identity to be able to qualify. Lake Mary, for example, is just a suburb of Orlando.

I dare you to find downtown Lake Mary or a city center of some sort.

I've only been to IC twice, but it seemed like a nice place.

I wonder what the percentage of white vs/ minority are these towns? Are they great because they are white and upper class?
And I hardly consider the 'burbs a great place to live. I live in the 'burbs, it sucks.

I'll put in a vote for Charleston, S.C. I'd move back there in a heartbeat. Big enough so there's good stuff to do and a great music scene, small enough to keep from getting the worst of big city problems.

At least that was the case in the early '90s.

I laughed when I saw Elkridge, Md., on the list. Just happened to be there recently. When you pull into town one of the first things you see is a biker bar on the right hand side of the road. There are about 10 spaces marked for motorcyles right off of Route 1 that are about two steps away from an outdoor bar. It didn't get much better the further in I went. If that's the among the best places to live...
