Something tell me they didnt even offer him a deal. They just want the public to think they did.

Exactly. Gutless move by the Yankees. Give Torre an offer you know he will turn down rather than having the cajones to cut him loose.

I feel bad that Torre lost a job that he seemed like he wanted to keep, but I'm glad he could give a big fuck you on the way out.

And I'm even happier for the fact that the Yankees won't get anyone of Torre's caliber.

Good for Torre, but where does he land if this isn't just negotiations to get a better deal with the Yankees. Can you see this guy managing the Pirates? I could see him replacing La Russa in St. Louis, though.

Maybe he can replace one of the morons on Fox or TBS.

Doubt he's interested in a second stint guiding that rudderless ship.

And 21, thanks for reposting that link!

after the way they treated him this post-season, glad to see him turn them down.
Bring back Buck Showalter to manage the Yanks?

Grover may be an OK fit here.

Steinbrenner's a real class act. The guy serves you well and then you kick him in the balls by offering him this deal? A non-renewal would have been less insulting. A joke of a franchise.

George always has to have the last word . . . even if it's while he's shitting his pants while his face dives into the oatmeal.
