"We wanted to know how the East Palestine train derailment was affecting Americans, so we visited with players at a pickleball court at The Villages."

Oh look a truck full of hazmat nitric acid overturned in Tucson.

It’s almost as if deregulation, union busting, understaffing, low wages and poor working conditions all result in terrible outcomes.

Or maybe it was a careless driver, like most accidents on the highway.

They result in higher profits, thus higher payouts to shareholders. That's all that matters.

Train derailments have decreased significantly over the last 5 decades. Even though this one is getting a lot of attention at the moment, the numbers don't show a rise recently. ... in whatever recent period anyone considers "deregulated." There are between 1,000 and 2,000 derailments every year, some of them with significant fatalities. There are all kinds of reasons they happen. Broken rails and missing crossties are actually the most common causes.

What happened is not good, with the toxic chemicals involved and with what the lasting effects might be. But we're getting a lot of the usual Monday Morning Quarterbacking, and of couse some people won't waste an opportunity to force fit it into their narrative.

This whole thing has been mismanaged from the start. And there doesn't appear to be anyone in the state government that has half a clue.

Good luck to the residents of East Palestine.

Video appears to show NS train on fire 20 miles before derailment. Also excellent local reporting here.

Why do we need a multi-million dollar ad blitz to try and make Christians not look like assholes? they wonder.

There's still the small matter of them having illegally taken away his freedom for several hours.
