The NFL has taken one huge leap down a slippery fucking slope. Quarterbacks, ye be warned.

One more quick note... I wonder how much of this was covering the ass of the officials. To levy a fine now would be to say they fucked up a call (or non-call).

The logic used by the NFL is extremely suspect. They might have an argument if Kennison had a head of steam and shoved him straight up field, but he didn't. Kennison had as much of an impact on that play as a 10 mph breeze has on a wreck at an intersection. Hell, Geathers himself was TOLD he was pushed. I'm guessing if Kennison shoved him with as much force as the NFL contends, he'd have remembered.

All-in-all, the NFL, protectors of quarterbacks, savior of signal-callers, fucked up. It fucked up bad.

The NFL Network was on the teevee at the eating joint tonight.
It was on mute, but it looked like Willie Roaf was going to come out of retirement and re-join the Chiefs.
    Is that right?

well, if you slide correctly, you don't get hurt. you try to go for an extra yard, it's not the defensive player's fault for trying to tackle you (while your receiver is blocking that guy in the back)

oh, right, it's all a big conspiracy against the chiefs. forgot about that. the nfl hates lamar hunt because of his afl ties. or is it because he has an mls team? conspiracy!

Green didn't deserve that hit simply because he's clueless as to how to slide. It's unfortunate because he's always been nothing but class, and he deserves better than that.

That said, the NFL -- which for the past two days has broken down film frame-by-frame from every camera angle much better than any of us could -- said nothing could be done there. Clean hit. No penalty, no fine.

If you think there's some conspiracy against the Chiefs, you're crazy. The NFL loves the Chiefs -- they hate the Raiders and all things Al Davis, just like the NFL, which is how it should be.

    The Raiders hate themselves.

I just wonder how this thread would have gone if the the subject line started with "Mike Piazza" instead of "Trent Green."

The NFL said there was no foul. They cannot say it in simpler or plainer words.
