I guess right now names are being tossed around, and I heard one on the radio this morning (M&M) that could make a lot of sense - Tony Dungy.

Speaking of which- AJ Green sold a jersey, got caught, told the truth, served a (semi-)immediate suspension. Cost a mediocre Georgia team some wins, but that was it, and the matter has now passed.

As always, it's the cover-up that gets you.

Dungy would be a mistake. I understand that his reputation as a Boy Scout would be good PR for OSU, but at best they would get a couple years out of him.

I heard Gruden's name mentioned as well, but I think if his negotiations with Miami were any indication, he's only a short term answer as well.

I think they need to go all in to get Urban Meyer. I also heard Bob Stoops mentioned as well. I think he has ties to OSU, I'm not sure...

    Sounds like Meyer isn't interested...

It is something when you see a job like this pop open in Ohio and all the coaches with roots in the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania start getting mentioned. The list is pretty impressive.

Not even going to click on it because, if we look at past history, Meyer might not speak truthfully all the time. :)

It makes perfect sense ... if OSU cared about cleaning up its program. But just like it's ridiculous to say Tressel had no knowlege of the stuff that was going on in its program, it's almost as ridiculous to say that the assistant coaches (who are now in charge), the compliance people, Gene Smith and top administrators had no idea what was happening, either. And those people aren't losing their jobs. No matter what the penalty, I don't think the culture or the behavior changes in the least in Columbus.

On another topic, did you see what Terrell Pryor drove to the team meeting last night? It was Tweeted by the OSU student paper that he showed up in a Nissan 350z with temp tags from May 24, waving to the cameras. He can't figure out that this would be a good time to hitch a ride or ride a moped to this meeting, even if it's just for the sake of appearance? Whether he's the dumbest person in all of sports or the most arrogant, I don't know, but there's no way he plays another snap of college football.

I think Meyer is one of the biggest douchebags college football coaching has seen in awhile. I think what he did at Florida was far worse than what Tressel did at OSU.

One violated NCAA rules and tried to cover it up. The other had 30+ players arrested under his watch and gave a slap on the wrist to a player who threatened to kill his girlfriend.

Interesting how one is perceived as much worse than the other.

Can't fathom ANYONE being interested, until the sanctions shake-out. Will depend on how bad the hammer falls.

It's ugly, but Ohio State seems to have done itself some favors. On the surface, at least, they've self reported what they (supposedly) "knew" / found out. They've laid symbolically "sacrificed" the 'vest. They seem to be cooperating.

The initial NCAA finding seemed FAR more focused on Tressel, than the institution. The SI article didn't plow much new ground. The B1G has lined up behind them. Unless this car (or Pryor) situation blows up further (and holy sh*t...it certainly could), they may dodge the worst of it.

Even with all that, can you imagine the response from USC if OSU gets off with a slap on the wrist? The Pac-12 commissioner last week basically dared the NCAA to go easy on Ohio State.

I know they had to get rid of Tressel, but if athletes are told they "sign with a school, not a coach", shouldn't that philosophy also apply to NCAA violations?

Rumors on a Vol board posted by a known friend-of-Phil's says Fulmer has been contacted to gauge his interest.

If it can't be Saban, please Football God, pick Phat Phil for tOSU and get him the hell out of K-ville!

I'd be surprised if Gary Pinkel doesn't get a call about it. From Akron, went to Kent State, was a successful coach at Toledo and has completely changed the football atmosphere at Missouri. Seems to be fairly clean, too.
