I love reading candidate lists like this, but they lose a lot of credibility when they can't spell Bo Pelini's name correctly. He's only the freaking second name on their list ...

And Dantonio may be a bigger sleaze than Tressel.

As may be Meyer....and Saban.....and Rich Rod...and (fill in the blank). Seems to come with the territory.

That sounds an awful lot like taking the stance that you can't win without cheating, so you may as well cheat. If that's the case, then they may as well have kept Tressel around.

I know most D-I coaches break the rules to some degree, but you don't think there's any quality coach they can get who is clean (or at least cleaner than Meyer, Saban, Rich Rod (I must have missed where he's been floated as a candidate), Dantonio?

Pinkel running a program as vaunted as Ohio State's? It'll be like they're still under NCAA infractions.

I was merely observing, not really making a grand statement. It's an ugly, cut-throat business these days. Truth be told, it always has been. The unfortunate truth is, you probably DO have to be a bit slimy, to compete at the very highest of levels. The list I floated, were just the guys who seem to be considered a bit "slimy" / have had issues. Add in Butch Davis. Add in Chip Kelly and the paid recruiting "advisor." The list goes on and on and.....

I guess it comes down to this. SOME one was going to sign Mr. Pryor (as an example of a high risk talent). Elite HS talent....but no question that headaches would follow. I doubt he would have caused any less problems in State College, or Ann Arbor, or South Bend......

IIRC, TOSU tried to force Ohio University to change its name. Seems there's only one university in Ohio in its collective eyes.
You can see how well that worked...

Anytime someone references SEC speed I like to everyone this clip. Let's stop generalizing.

Saban was asked to leave by Earle Bruce. He has an intense dislike by everything Ohio State.

Wow, you're right. Out of the approximately 1,100 football players in the Big Ten, there is at least one who can run at the SEC level. I stand corrected.

There's considerably more than that. About as much generalization in that as if I were to say that everyone in SEC country went around barefoot, chewing Skoal all day.

There are coaches with the success to merit the OSU gig - and there are coaches with the perceived integrity that will be required of the next coach. And there are coaches that would take the gig, knowing they'll have to deal with a lot of crud. I don't know if there is anyone all three lists.
My guess? Someone like a Garry Patterson or Troy Calhoun would be a great hire. Probably end up with someone more like Ty Willingham taking over in Washington after Neuheisel.

As proven by the complete lack of Big Ten (or MAC, if we're going regional) players who are capable of making it in the NFL. Sad how none of them ever make it......
