Don't most states require you to show you are applying for jobs when you collect unemployment?

 

The reason I ask is that I have applied for unemployment. I am not receiving the minimal benefits yet, and hope I dont need to. But I have also looked into food stamps, and I am not ashamed. I am doing what I need to do as a single guy who owns a house by himself and got kicked to the curb. I have some family/friends I can lean on, but I'm a college-educated journalist with 19 years of experience, so be careful to judge. Now, if I'm on unemployment for 99 weeks, just shoot me in the head.
