I agree. In a contest of "hold your nose and vote for President", my vote goes to someone who has a clue about the issues and how government actually works.

If he chooses a non-politician for VP, he will not only lose the election. He'll get pummeled.

Maybe he could get away with picking someone like Kasich, who's a governor, but in general, picking an established politician goes against his whole rationale for running.
