Not to be flip, because every death is a tragedy, but have we suffered one in 2016 in Afghanistan? I can't remember the last time I read about one. I thought I read somewhere it's been like three years since we suffered an IED casualty, for instance.

Much like raw number of executive orders is a terrible way of measuring executive power expansion, "raw number of years under a technical declaration of war" is a shitty way to measure aggression.
