I'm not sure Frank understands the difference between winning elections and governing. Hillary will triangulate like crazy the next couple months (as she should) to win the election. But there's no way she returns to the New Democrat-style governing of her husband once she's in office.

With that said, however, there's a good reason she won't be pushing for Bernie Sanders' progressive ideals, either. They're unachievable and, in a number of cases, bad policy. She'll make smart, incremental progress.

I'll be ecstatic if we can get an immense infrastructure program through Congress.

 

Had a big hailstorm in my neck of the woods this past spring, and lots of roof crews are still at work. Odd sight to see a dozen Mexicans hard at work repairing a house with a yardful of "Make America Great" signs ...

 

Can we make the Mexicans pay for it?

Well, my state desperately needs an infrastructure program, and no way in hell the lege funds one. They're too busy raiding the education budget to put a band aid on the general fund. Lord knows that they wouldn't raise taxes to fund anything like that. We could double the property tax and still be in the bottom third of the nation in property tax rates.

In 2008, Bush signed the agreement to withdraw troops from Iraq in 2011.

Could Obama have looked at the situation as it was in 2011 and decided that it was not a good time to withdraw troops and go back on the agreement?
