Those hypothetical GOP-vs.-Dem polls never mean very much before we have the actual candidates.

    Hillary would destroy Cruz.

But it scarcely matters, because tonight and March 15 are Trump's coronation.

Listen to these weak-ass liberals coddle those damn Mexicans.

"I'd like to see something done about the illegal alien problem that would be so sensitive and so understanding about labor needs and human needs that that problem wouldn't come up."

"As we have kind of made illegal some kinds of labor that I'd like to see legal, we're doing two things: We're creating a society of really honorable, decent, family-loving people that are in violation of the law. And secondly we're exacerbating relations with Mexico."

"If they're living here, I don't want to see 6- and 8-year-old kids being totally uneducated and made to feel outside the law. Let's adjust ourselves to the fundamentals. These are good people. Strong people."

"Rather than talking about putting up a fence, why don't we work out some recognition of our mutual problems and make it possible for them to come here legally with a work permit, and then while they're working and earning here, they pay taxes here."

The problem will then come at the convention if the Republican establishment, essentially, steals the nomination away from Trump and gives it to Rubio, Ryan, Romney or anyone else who might come up.

All of the Trump people will be livid and they'll go Ross Perot 1992 and split the vote anyway.

If Trump gets the nomination, let it go, focus on the Senate (especially) and House races, watch Hillary win and eyeball 2020.

I understand this instinct, but I'm not sure how it's going to happen functionally that the GOP can win congressional races while getting hammered -- and not caring -- in the presidential.

Won't matter if they stay in as all primaries are winner-take-all by state or congressional districts starting March 15.

Most Congressional races aren't a concern unless it's a House Republican who won in 2014 by less than 5 points -- that Republican will probably now go from losing by 3 points in November to losing by 9 points.

Republican-held Senate races in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania now shift strongly to Democrats with Trump as the nominee.

Right, that's what I meant. The Senate. I figure the GOP might lose a few in the House but not enough to matter ... but I don't see how they can craft a message of "focus" on the down-ticket races while writing off the big one.

Beautiful in the upper portion. Majestic bluffs with a great spot for cliff diving from 10 to 35 feet into a deep pool.

"This party does not prey on people's prejudices," Ryan told reporters on Capitol Hill on Tuesday.

    LOL. Paulie made a funny.

We pause here to revisit the most important thing to know about American politics. Just read a poll on the two primaries for Rubio's Senate seat in Florida. Most important election on that ballot besides President. With two weeks to go until election day (and Florida has early voting), poll showed 45 percent of Democratic likely voters undecided. For Republicans, it was 47 percent. I think it's safe to say we can replace "undecided" with "haven't given it a moment's thought yet." No matter how long this thread gets, the truth is most Americans pay little or no attention to politics almost all the time.
