Rubio is a fine backup. He's the Rob Johnson of the GOP.

Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and from the other side of the aisle, the spectacularly incompetent and venal DNC chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz. It's almost as if Florida pols aren't very good at their trade.

These are the people who decide primaries.

In Arkansas, Trump beat Cruz by 8,834 votes. More than 9,700 people cast votes for people no longer in the race.

If I were a liberal or a Democrat, I would vote for Trump because of the hell this creates for Republicans.

Given the high numbers of GOP primary turnout vs Dem primary turnout, I wonder how many people who are Democrats are doing exactly this. It would be shrewd and smart.

The Republican leadership refuses to admit the obvious: a vast majority of their voters have cast a vote in favor of a noted racist, sexist, xenophobic liar. Ergo, their party is comprised mostly of people who feel racism, sexism, xenophobia and lying is OK. The Beltway types who are pulling their hair out today are ignoring the elephant in the room: By running PAC ads against Trump, you are telling the majority of your voters so far in this election that they need to go away.

Not a vast majority. At least not yet.

    At least give us that.

I can understand and appreciate the levels of amusement that many on the left feel watching the destruction of the Republican Party in real time. For those of us who generally believe in many of the basic tenants of conservatism and would prefer to working within the system for positive change, the rise of Trump is incredibly dispiriting.

Sorry, but you can't keep pointing out that Trump's "ceiling" in (an open) primary campaign is in the 30% range, and also claim Trump is the candidate of the Republican base.

Cruz and Rubio are base candidates.

Trump reiterated his praise of the work that Planned Parenthood does last night. That's not a base position. He's not a base candidate.

Participation in Republican contests is way up. He's bringing in new voters, who had not previously voted in Republican primaries.

His positions on immigration, trade, the military, and "the vets" is appealing to white working class voters.

The only way he doesn't win in November is if the Republican base stays home.

Trump has received 33% of the votes cast to date. That is not "a vast majority."

For the talk of momentum, his share of the votes last night was almost identical to what it was in the contests before last night.
