Yeah, the Dems have really opened up the provervial road to prosperity with their policies. But, hey, it's only been five decades.

My definition of a fiscal conservative is someone who insists that our country spend no more in any given year than it takes in.

There are very few in Congress from either party who agree with this radical concept.

Well, it is a radical (and dangerous) concept. But if that's what you really want, the biggest problem you have is that the massive tax cuts the GOP wants to provide to corporations and the wealthy always end up cutting revenue. For example, Kansas under Sam Brownback.

Theee's more to politics, policy and ideology than the letters D and R. But you've never shown an interest in learning anything beyond your built-in prejudices and assumptuons. So I won't suggest you seek out a little information.

I don't support corporate welfare or insane farm subsidies any more than I do paying people not to work.

The corporatists in both parties exist only to enrich themselves, and should be defeated.

But you're going to have a hard time convincing me that our fiscal problems are all (or even mostly) related to revenue. We have a spending problem and have for some time; the only difference between the parties is what they choose to spend our money on.

OK. Let's say your first statement is true. Does anyone think low-income democratic party voters are more interested in Democrat policies than Trump's supporters are?

Sure, things like a higher minimum wage or free healthcare resonate, but it's not like they're any more educated about these issues than low income Trump voters.

Both parties have become beholden to the 1% at the expense of the middle and lower class. And, it's particularly on issues like trade and immigration where both parties policies align.

Both parties pander to their low income voters, but ultimately want them to compliant and complacent -- or in Hillary's parlance, brought to heel.

Neither party gives a shit about them. Dems promise cradle to grave care, and scare their voters into thinking that will be taken away.

Republicans appeal to patriotism, God, and guns, with a little bit of economic opportunity thrown in.

Trump is the only candidate people take seriously when he talks about trade and immigration.

To pretend that folks are too dumb to understand that they've been hit by both is silly.

Trade policy and immigration have hurt low income workers, if not in general, certainly by region, and/or by industry.

If we were importing foreign teachers, or outsourcing their jobs, teachers unions would have very different opinions on these issues. The same goes for building trade union members. It goes for doctors, lawyers, engineers, and sportswriters too.

Those who are immune from these issues don't understand how vital they are to those hurt by them.

The only difference between the party elites is that the Dems know how to keep their lessers in place.

This is as bigoted as anything that any racist might say, and it's straight out of the Democrat playbook.

In a shit economy, and we've had one for 15 years now, people feel economically insecure.

They want to see job opportunity and wage increases.

That's what Trump is talking about.

Factories, warehouses, call centers, and other places where low skill workers have worked for years are leaving for Mexico and other cheaper labor environments, and journalists, who have been squeezed as hard as anyone don't sympathize with these workers? It's insane.

In addition to this, we continue to import additional low skill workers to compete for the remaining low income jobs.

People can't even find jobs a step down on the economic ladder, let alone on par with the job they lost.

And, we call them racist for being upset about the situation.

That fails to consider their plight, and dismisses them without thought. It's just one more reason for them to be pissed off.

Related question: If a poor, white Southerner loses their journalism job, should we have any sympathy?

no, we call them racists bc they support a guy who espouses blatantly racist ideas. plenty of people want to give them better job opportunities. only one of them is saying things that are tailored to appeal to the most ignorant, hateful and resentful element.
