I'm familiar with his policy positions. They couldn't and wouldn't be funded. Nothing evil or horrible about him, which is something you can't say about Trump.

History's full of "idealists" who do some pretty reprehensible/evil things when they get their hands on some real power. Like I say, give him the kind of power he craves and I bet he'd surprise you.

Not that Trump would be any better, of course ...

Nah. Bernie isn't evil. He's ethical, truthful and a good-hearted person. Trump is a scumbag.

There is a role in our politics for a principled ideologue, left or right. Someone has to hold the mass of trimmers to some semblance of intellectual consistency. Bernie fills that role for the Democrats. He'd have been a poor President, not from intentions but from absolute inability to transform intentions into actions.

Bernie is a man of integrity. He's not the type of candidate who would run in a primary and then claim to be an independent only to clear the decks.

I reject the premise of that last sentence on the grounds that it is bullshit. For one thing, the line isn't racial, it is socioeconomic. For another, you are lumping everybody together when many white liberals aren't even in a situation where that is an option. You are presenting racial motivation as fact when it is clear that there are other factors at play.

Now if you want to say white liberals, along with white conservatives in those very same districts, do not want to do anything that would weaken their own child's school district, I can see some logic in that argument. If you want to say they refuse to do something that might cost their own children an advantage for greater societal good, that is a reasonable argument. If you want to label them as selfish assholes for doing so, that's fine, too.

But let's get to your real end game here. You are hoping you can cry hypocrisy because you are under the false impression that I think it is wrong to send a child to a private school. Sorry to disappoint you on that one, but I have no issues with parents paying to send their children to a private school. My issue is with parents who do so and expect the state or their local public school district to pay for it. You want to send your children to private school? Fine. You still have to pay your school taxes and you shouldn't expect them to pay your kid's way.

You want a religious education for your child? Pay for it out of your pocket, not the state's and not the local school district's.

Socialism is evil in its own right. And we know what Socialists do when they have power.

The entire left-wing playbook in one sentence. Very nicely done.

We all know you cast policy in good-versus-evil terms. Anything you're for is inherently good. I'm sure you have your spot at the right hand reserved already.
