This has been answered. Don't complain publicly about others avoiding paying taxes when he has done the same thing. Don't brag about how smart it makes him during the first debate. The issues here are his hypocrisy, public perception of his actions and the lack of judgement he has shown related to this issue.

 

What this does too is drive another stake into the "Trump is a successful businessman" narrative he's worked so hard to craft. And it hits him right in the, uh, hands.

Unfortunately for Breitbart, the comments section for its story works against the claim that the Post story was wildly unrepresentative.

If people could get past the battle lines and just read the Post story, I think it's more nuanced and layered than a "hit piece." Hillary supporters who would mock this woman for being unhinged and from the "Alabama" region of Pennsylvania should read carefully the portion where she is sexually harassed until she loses her job with the railroad.

The "public perception" is that Hillary Clinton should have been indicted, perhaps for treason.

This is such a circular argument. The "public perception" is largely driven by the media's framing of a story. So the media can gussy up a nothing story like this and, then, when asked to defend its sensationalism, plead that "public perception" justified the story treatment.

What "judgment" did he lack here? Who pays more taxes than they have to?

You guys keep pointing to these prior Tweets he had sent out raging about people who don't pay taxes. And I guess that would be a valid point if he were running as a traditional Republican. He's not. He's courting those people aggressively, and largely winning with them. He's not running a "makers vs. takers" campaign. He's not Mitt Romney.

So, at worst, Donald Trump flip-flopped on an issue. Yeah, that's new.

 

Yeah, and then speculates wildly that Rendell was in backroom cahoots with the judge to dispense with her pissant little lawsuit.
