Typical SJ.com hypothesis: This (insert issue) isn't fair!

Also guessed NC would post an article refuting dq's claim.

The main point of contention is not which states are the most "federally dependent" (although what that actually means is another can of worms). It's deciding what makes a state red or blue for the purposes of "proving" this silly point.

If a state historically votes "D" for president but historically elects "R" governors, is it a red state or blue state? California has had a Republican governor for 32 of the past 49 years. Guess it's a red state, eh? What about states that go back and forth? Are you just going to use the latest election results as your guide . . . even though much of these federal funds were earmarked many years ago (when the state may have been a different "color")?

Hard to believe Trump wouldn't admit he was wrong in the face of facts and science.

He will never, never admit he's ever done anything wrong.

Well, it's a single sample, but I live in Alabama. Last I heard the state took in something on the order of $1.46 for every tax dollar sent to Washington. There isn't a single Democrat in statewide office.

Of course, the R's pound the drum about how the Federal gummint robs us blind...

Federal dependence doesn't mean a whole lot if everyone has their own definition.

    http://www.wsj.com/articles/white-h...nton-email-issues-new-documents-show-14757983
Ten days after the story broke, White House communications director Jennifer Palmieri emailed State Department spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki to ask, “between us on the shows…think we can get this done so he is not asked about email.” That apparently referred to Mr. Kerry, who appeared in an interview on CBS ’s “Face the Nation” three days later.

Ms. Palmieri had previously announced she would be leaving the administration to join Mrs. Clinton’s campaign in mid-2015, but was still at the White House when she sent the email. Other emails show Ms. Palmieri helped arrange for Ms. Psaki to move from the State Department to the White House communications job Ms. Palmieri was vacating. “Agree completely and working to crush on my end,” wrote back Ms. Psaki, who would move to the White House weeks later.

My point of contention is that it's absurd to say that a state is "dependent" on the federal government if federal spending in that state exceeds federal tax revenues from that state.
